MY Mission

Throughout high school I developed a love of mathematics.  I took every math class my schedule would allow even though only four credits were required for graduation.  Before long teachers were referring me to other students who were struggling with their math classes.  That was fun for me and it helped me understand it better because it made me look at things from a different perspective.  I enjoyed helping demystify the stuff so much that I decided to pursue a degree in mathematics.

After high school I attended college but sadly made poor choices during that time and ended up dropping out.  In an effort to get back on track I took a job in manufacturing which provided an Employee Scholar Program that paid for school.  I  purchased math books and studied on my own so I could stay sharp until I was eligible for the company’s financial assistance.  I worked my way through most of Calculus 1 before taking on school once more.  When I began taking college courses again it only lasted for a short time.  This is because I had very low seniority in the Union shop and was bumped to different shifts during manpower moves making me unavailable to attend the classes I had registered for.  This was before the advent of online education.

Over the years I helped several coworkers with the math classes that either they or a family member were taking.  A few years ago the company I work for made plans to move the entire production facility to another country.  That’s when I began making use of a blank dry erase marker board at work for working through math when time permitted.  Then math problems began appearing on the board from someone else, so I solved them.  The last problem I worked out, before the first major layoff, had a note at the bottom of the board which read “you should help people with your gift” There was no further communication beyond that.

After twenty-three years of being just another gear in the assembly line, I am determined to do just that.  Help others understand to the best of my ability.  That is what I set out to do in the beginning and now that we have the ability to collaborate online we can be that much more efficient in sharpening one another in our collective effort to pursue and advance knowledge.

I am endeavoring to accomplish my original goals as well as encourage others to stay on course and I would be honored to help you meet your goals.
